Dear Republicans of Congressional District 7,
My name is Paul Mueller, and I am running for the Republican nomination for the University of Colorado Board of Regents.
This upcoming vacancy represents a critical opportunity for our party. Six years ago, we left this seat uncontested. It is high time we offer the voters of CD7 a choice and provide the University system with the principled oversight it deserves.
My professional background uniquely prepares me to serve as a Regent. Having earned both my Master's and PhD in Economics from George Mason University, I have spent my career within the halls of academia. I taught at a liberal arts college in downtown Manhattan for eight years, and I continue to stay connected to the classroom as an adjunct professor at the local community college in Lake County.
Through my current work in policy research and national commentary for the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER), I engage daily with the most pressing issues facing higher education today—from the complexities of DEI initiatives to the broader economic impacts of monetary and trade policy. These factors intersect with the university’s mission and fiscal health.
The Board of Regents requires members who possess the courage to ask difficult questions. We need leaders who will:
-
Hold Leadership Accountable: Ensure the University President and administration remain answerable to the taxpayers and students and doesn’t politicize education.
-
Maintain Fiscal Discipline: Rigorously review finances and data to provide a steady hand in the system's multi-billion-dollar operations.
-
Prioritize Academic Excellence: Make sure the University focuses on excellent non-partisan education and professional training, not playing political games.
The University of Colorado system is an important complex institution. It shapes the trajectory of thousands of Coloradans as they launch their careers. We must ensure that trajectory is defined by rigorous inquiry and merit.
I would be honored to represent Congressional District 7 in this vital role. I ask for your vote in June. And, if you are so inclined, please encourage your family and friends to vote for me too.
